With an energetic and naive attitude throughout the original web series , he starts off uploading sporadic videos of him celebrating various holidays. The first season follows Fred documenting his everyday life and attempting to perform a number of activities during the summer, until his mother attends rehab for alcohol abuse. The second season delves more into Fred's infatuation with Judy and attending school. Fred also participates in his school play and decides to run against Kevin for class president, dreaming of someday becoming famous.
The third season still follows the daily adventures of Fred, as well further exploring Fred's interest in singing and his feelings of being an outcast amongst his peers. The fourth season shows Fred traveling around town trying out different occupations and other experiences outside of his house. Fred is eventually confronted by a new person in his life, a psychopathic house intruder named Claudio Gregory , who manages to remain in his home due to paying Fred's mother rent.
He eventually gets kidnapped by the Yuksung corporation after working with Nickelodeon, where the corporation wanted to push a 'new Fred' in order to sell cereal. Fred was later freed by creator Lucas Cruikshank himself. By the end of the New FRED arc , he is set free as a character when Lucas said that he no longer wanted to make videos with him.
Fred then says he doesn't know when asked what he's going to do next and walks off into the distance, his future unknown.
In the movie trilogy, Fred is a teenager and lives in a more relatively stable environment. The events he deals with are a little beyond everyday misadventures: the first movie has him embarking on a journey to find and sing with a recently relocated Judy, the second movie has him confronting a teacher who may or may not be a vampire, and the third movie has him being sent to summer camp where they must compete against a rival camp.
In the show , Fred is confronted with more everyday events again such as school, interactions with bullies and crushes and friends, along with things more suited to teenage antics like driver tests and babysitting.
His romantic feelings have shifted to other characters besides Judy, such as bad girl Holly and the brash, confrontational Nicolette. There is also some departure from the web series lore, such as when Kevin and Fred were revealed to have been childhood best friends.
On Lucas's Channel, he had went through several lifestyle changes as a young adult. While he seems to maintain an upbeat and energetic demeanor, Judy had remained heartbroken for Kevin, which Fred is oblivious to. It is also revealed he had sold the channel for a Cheesecake Factory coupon. He still has some feelings for Judy at this point and has apparently become more psychotic in general. He says that his mom is watching over various children, none of which related to her, that she has tried to leave to be kidnapped multiple times.
However, nobody will kidnap them Fred says she tried the same thing on him, but it didn't work either. Currently, the last spin-off of Fred is on the TikTok account " heyitsfred ".
It shows Fred in different situations like dancing, singing with a John Cena cutout, etc. Fred is a hyperactive person. He often acts out on impulse, and has been seen to be hateful and vengeful. He is emotionally unstable, and can go from one emotion to another in seconds without much reason. Due to these problems, he has to take medicine and sees a therapist regularly.
In the New Fred arc, he is more calm, but still is prone to acting out on his emotions. He is usually upbeat and optimistic; for almost everything new he tries, he starts off with this attitude. However, Fred also thinks highly of himself and his abilities, often overestimating them.
He is also rather petty, such as whenever he wants to get back at Kevin and resorts to poorly-thought-out schemes. Although he puts on a bravado at times, he occasionally self-reflects and is admittedly insecure about himself. He is self-conscious about his body and he is aware of his status as an outcast among his peers, often wishing that they would accept him one day. He is a creative person and has expressed an interest in drawing where his skill level fluctuates; he typically draws crudely and on morbid subjects like violence which has been said to have gotten him in trouble several times , but there are times where he displays a great level of skill, such as when he 'drew' his cartoon series in-universe and is able to ink a decent-looking detailed tattoo on a whim.
In the Fred: The Movie trilogy, he is even more calm, usually only becoming spastic or emotional when he is frightened or upset. He is quite determined and ambitious for whatever goal he has in mind, whether it was finding Judy, proving and later disproving his teacher is a vampire, or beating Kevin's camp in the competitions. Fred Figglehorn grew up being abused and neglected by his prostitute mother all throughout his miserable life.
His father was also in death row, so he grew up without a father figure. Though sometimes Fred would hallucinate John Cena being his dad. Fred's mom used to smash beer bottles on his head because she's an alcoholic, which caused trauma on his head. Fred Figglehorn however, despite being completely messed up in the head, is still very upbeat and enthusiastic. He is often times bullied by Kevin, a local bully who kicks Fred's ass every chance he gets and this causes Fred to fear Kevin.
He also obsesses about a girl named Judy no, not Judge Judy. There was also a brief moment in Fred's life where he met a creep named Mr. Devlin, a serial killer who kills kids, but surprisingly Mr. Devlin didn't kill Fred because he developed a huge boner for Fred's mom. One day in , Fred was watching TV and he saw Tara the Android on there on a stage and he screamed as if he just saw a loved one died or something. Since Fred is known to be obsessive towards people who interest him, he went on a mission to destroy Tara so she'd never scare the bejesus out of anyone ever again.
Fred snuck out since his mom wouldn't even notice him gone and went on a quest to see where she would be. He found out that she will be performing for a town 5 towns over and over.
