Open the Twitter mobile app. It's the blue bird icon on your home screen or in your app list. If you aren't logged into Twitter on your phone, you'll need to do so in order to access your account. Tap the envelope icon at the bottom-right corner. This opens your inbox and displays any messages you've sent or received.
You can also send a message to someone by tapping the envelope icon at the top of their Twitter profile. If you want to reply to an existing message, tap it to open it. You can use DMs to share tweets with up to 20 other accounts separately, or in a group. To do so, tap the Share icon under a tweet and select Send via Direct Message. A Twitter DM isn't the same thing as a tweet; therefore, it doesn't appear in any public timeline that everyone can see.
